Facilities management

A major education facility

The site includes ten academic faculties, six health science faculties, a full medical centre, a central library with five million volumes, a Grand Mosque, schools, housing, a convention centre, sports facilities and a 7,000-seat stadium. It also has an automated people mover with 14 stations, a large service zone and a warehouse retrofitted with solar panels.

The entire campus is LEED certified. Twelve projects are registered, including four LEED Gold buildings. This is a significant achievement in the demanding desert environment.

How we made it happen

After construction, Currie & Brown acted as interim director of facilities management. To prepare for this role, we set up the systems needed before moving into ongoing operations.

Working closely with the client and the on-site support team, we challenged the brief and improved facilities management in key areas. These included sustainability, communication, health and safety, risk management and relationship building.
