A world-class home for football and more
The project transformed the city’s landmark into a modern, multi-use venue. The refurbished stadium now seats 67,000 fans – up from 60,030 – and meets international standards for football and rugby. It hosted six matches during Euro 2016 and continues to stage the home games of Olympique de Marseille.
Sustainable design at stadium scale
Sustainability was central to the scheme. The stadium now generates more energy than it consumes thanks to wind turbines and heat recovery from a nearby water treatment plant.
Balancing construction with live matches
Working on a live site meant planning was critical. National football fixtures continued during construction, so we developed clear handover procedures to minimise disruption. Our independent monitoring gave lenders confidence, reduced uncertainty, and ensured the stadium was delivered as promised.
