Currie & Brown appoints Simon Sturm to lead sustainability and head Munich office

Simon Sturm has been appointed to head up our Munich office and lead our sustainability work in Germany. Simon joins at a time when clients are facing tougher environmental regulations, from the EU Taxonomy to local climate targets. His wide experience deepens our focus on sustainability at every stage of our projects. That will help our clients meet both compliance and long-term value.

Backed by strong experience

Simon is an expert in carbon management and ESG. For 15 years, he has helped clients plan, deliver and protect their developments for the future.

At Korian, where he was Head of Construction and Project Management, Simon led eight assisted living and residential projects in Munich, delivering around 2,000 keys. Every scheme was designed around residents’ needs, with full carbon planning built in from the start to meet EU taxonomy rules.

These rules matter. They set the standard for what counts as environmentally sustainable in Germany. By following them, we help clients unlock funding, prove compliance and protect the long-term value of their investments.

Practical leadership on sustainability

Simon will drive our net zero work, leading on carbon assessments and helping cut emissions in office buildings and data centres. With data centres under extra scrutiny as demand grows and regulations tighten, Simon’s knowledge will help clients deliver lower-impact projects that are ready for the future.

He will team up with Adam Mactavish, our global sustainability director, to make sure our work in Germany meets top global standards. Helping our clients keep up with new rules and feel sure about their next steps.

Driving growth in Munich

As Branch Manager, Simon will lead our Munich team, build strong local ties and support the wider region. He will also work with our European leaders to make sure clients get a clear and joined-up service across borders.

Simon Sturm, Director, comments: “After more than 15 years in real estate, I’m stepping into a new chapter.

This move opens up real opportunities. Germany is well placed to lead the way on highly sustainable projects, and there is growing demand to consider carbon impacts at every stage of a building’s lifecycle. Working with our Munich team, I am focused on helping us grow in the region. Our goal is simple. We want to create real value that lasts for years."

Marc Kirschbaum, Managing Director, Currie & Brown Germany, comments: “Simon’s background in sustainability will help clients meet the demands of the EU Taxonomy with clarity and confidence. Simon will connect the knowledge of our sustainability team with local market needs, so clients in Germany can deliver smarter, more sustainable projects.”
