The Birmingham team of specialist International Property Asset Management Consultancy Currie & Brown, and Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Consulting Engineers, Cudd Bentley Consulting, have come together to provide professional support and input to the new £30 million Q3 Academy in West Bromwich.

The Q3 Academy to be built at Great Barr moved into a key phase this month, as the second stage of construction work commenced on the site that will be home to the new £30 million school. Due to be completed in April 2010, it will replace the existing Dartmouth High School that will be demolished as soon as the new building is completed.

This construction phase is being led by Currie & Brown, who are acting as Contract Administrator and Quantity Surveyor, overseeing the project from its initial commencement through to completion.

Cudd Bentley Consulting have been appointed as part of the Currie & Brown Team, to oversee the Mechanical and Electrical installation, and to provide technical support.

The Q3 Academy forms part of the Governments Education Programme for schools in the 21st Century. It is part publicly funded by the Department for Children Schools and Families, and generously sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Eric Payne through their Grace Charitable Foundation.

John Troup of Currie & Brown, who is carrying out the role of Contract Administrator said: ‘This is an exciting phase of the project and the community will be able to witness the original vision for the new school being transformed into reality, now that the work has commenced. This is a significant project that involves many complex issues, but we are confident the school will be delivered on time. The team at Currie & Brown and our partners, Cudd Bentley Consulting, have extensive experience of successfully managing large construction projects, including those within the education sector.’

Keith Ashford of Cudd Bentley Consulting said: ‘We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with Currie & Brown on this prestigious project, where the M & E Services will play a vital part in creating a comfortable learning environment’.
