Currie & Brown executives welcomed senior officials from the Brazilian city region of Rio de Janeiro this week, as they undertook a fact-finding mission on public procurement methods in the UK.
Led by State Secretary for Planning, Sergio Ruy Barbosa, the Rio delegation heard about the planning, financing and management aspects of PPP in the UK from a top team at Currie & Brown’s City office.
“The Brazilian team were very keen to hear about the practical aspects of PPP, how it works ‘on the ground’, the issues involved and the benefits to the public sector in terms of ensuring that major capital projects can be delivered in partnership,” explained Iain Stevenson, Director – London at Currie & Brown.
“We have a wealth of experience in the UK obviously. We have also been senior advisers to the Mexican government, as well as our involvement in PPP-type projects in Chile and Peru. Our understanding of the issues in Latin America were obviously of interest to the Brazilian contingent,” added Iain.
The Rio team were in the UK as part of a fact-finding tour facilitated by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
Currie & Brown was recently named as the top technical adviser in the UK, in the annual league table published by the Public: Private Finance Yearbook. The ranking is based on the number of commissions won last year. Across the UK, Currie & Brown was involved in 13 PPP deals as technical adviser.
