Kai Tak residential scheme collects Green Building Award 2016

The Kai Tak residential development on 3 Muk Chui Street, Hong Kong, for which Currie & Brown provided full quantity surveying services, has won the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC)'s Grand Award 2016 in the Completed Buildings - New Residential Building category.

The 29,000m2 GFA Kai Tak development has a total of 500 residential units across four domestic buildings (three high-rise and one low-rise building) along with a two-storey retail unit. Constructed as part of the Urban Renewal Authority's 'Flat-for-Flat Scheme', it provides domestic owner-occupiers affected by the URA's redevelopment projects with an alternative option to cash compensation.

Under the theme 'Driving for Green Lifestyle: Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment', HKGBC received an overwhelming response with 70 finalists competing across five categories. The awards aim to provide recognition for building-related projects with outstanding performance and contribution to sustainability in the built environment, as well as encouraging wider adoption of sustainable planning, design, construction, management, operation, maintenance, renovation and demolition of buildings.
