Stephen Gemmell appointed to board of Scotlandís Towns Partnership

Currie & Brown UK director Stephen Gemmell has been appointed to the board of Scotland's Towns Partnership, a non-profit agency which supports the sustainability and development of Scotlandís towns.

Stephen joins board members selected from across the public, private and third sectors, and will provide expertise in the field of asset management. This is particularly relevant given the current focus on community asset transfer and land reform in Scotland.

He has been appointed to the board at a time of expansion in the organisationís work and focus, which will include linking the Scottish Governmentís Town Centre Action Plan to the recently created World Towns Framework.

Phil Prentice, chief officer of Scotlandís Towns Partnership, stated: 'The work of Scotland's Towns Partnership is evolving and we are now looking at supporting towns in the context of the dimensions of economy, identity, assets and leadership. Stephen's appointment will help us build our expertise in these areas.'

Stephen added: 'I have been impressed with the impact of Scotland's Towns Partnership on improving town and community life in Scotland. There is, however, still much to do and I look forward immensely to supporting STP on this journey.'

Based in Glasgow, Stephen has previously served on the management consultancy faculty board of the RICS in Scotland and has a leading role in Currie & Brown's asset management team. He has a broad range of experience across a number of construction sectors, with particular involvement in estates strategy, procurement and funding option advisory services.
