Currie & Brown's Bristol office is flying high following the decision by the University of the West of England (UWE) to award it four framework agreements.
The firm picked up the Quantity Surveying and Project Management frameworks for projects valued at over £1m, as well as those of less than £1 million, the only consultant to secure work in all categories.
Currie and Brown are one of a number of suppliers on each of the frameworks, which may also be used by other public sector bodies and educational establishments in the Bristol region.
The news follows the launch last month of the first phase of the redevelopment of the Faculty of Creative Arts at the Bower Ashton Campus (pictured). Currie & Brown acted as Employers Agent, Quantity Surveyors and CDMC for the project, which was praised by the Dean of the Faculty, Paul Gough, who said: "The finished buildings look fantastic and the architects and contractors have done a brilliant job on budget and on time."
The new building is a two-storey concrete framed structure that incorporates natural ventilation, copper and cedar clad external elevations, and the use of daylight control for lighting. It was a design and build contract that required careful planning to ensure the quality of light inside the building was appropriate for the creative works being undertaken by students.
Currie & Brown Director in Bristol, Jon Ross believes that the work his team did on the first phase at Bower Ashton acted as a springboard to this latest framework appointment. "The appointment to a four year framework with the University is an excellent way to enhance our services in the education sector as part of an integrated team, where we have particular strengths."
The 15-strong team in Bristol has also completed a number of high profile projects in the sport and healthcare sectors. These include the £10m redevelopment of the South Stand at Gloucester Rugby Club (pictured) and the new 50 bed EMI Unit at Wellington for Chelston Park Care Homes where the firm acted as project and cost managers.
