Currie & Brown has appointed respected energy sector figure George Murray as its “industry leader” for the oil and gas sector, based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
George Murray spent 30 years with Faithful + Gould, part of the Atkins Group, including 17 years as a director of the business. He served in several roles including director for oil and gas and acting managing director for Scotland, Ireland and north-east England.
“We are delighted to have secured George’s services as our industry leader for the oil and gas sector,” commented Andrew Loudon, chief operating officer of Currie & Brown’s UK business.
“George brings a wealth of experience and contacts, and will play an important role leading our multi-disciplined team in Aberdeen, as well as providing guidance on key oil and gas issues to the rest of the group.”
“Oil and gas continues to play a vital role within the British economy, and is predicted to do so for the next 40 years. But the industry’s cost base has changed fundamentally, with massive technological developments meaning that it is possible to extract oil from difficult geological sites as well as sites that experience severe weather disruption,” commented George Murray.
“Our job is to offer strategic assistance to our clients operating in the North Sea sector, and also to provide project management skills to often complex projects. I look forward to this new role greatly.”
