Staff at Currie & Brown’s Plymouth office have been recognised again for their outstanding approach to collaborative working in a national award scheme organised by local authorities in England.
The Plymouth office was a finalist in the Local Authority Building Control building excellence awards recently, having won the regional section of the scheme for South-West England. This related specifically to working in partnership and promoting and ensuring outstanding standards of construction and workmanship.
The achievement was among those recognised recently at a special breakfast event organised by Plymouth City Council, whose building control department had nominated the Currie & Brown team originally.
“In addition to the regional award received last year we have now received two further awards. The first was in recognition of our high standards of design work during our continued partnership with Royal Bank of Scotland,” explained Plymouth office director Adrian King.
“We also received a finalist certificate in the ‘Best Partnership with a Local Authority’ category in the national award scheme, having previously won the regional award during 2012.
The Plymouth office enters 2013 in busy mode, with work underway in the education sector, including projects for local schools and both Exeter and Plymouth universities.
This year will see the opening of a city centre student accommodation project where Currie & Brown has acted as agent for the developer, Knightsbridge Student Housing, who will provide more than 500 apartments on a site formerly occupied by the NAAFI.
“The awards really are a tribute to the dedication of our team at Plymouth, working with colleagues across the group, and also to our commitment to promoting and achieving building excellence,” added Adrian King.
“We have demonstrated time and again that we take all of our partnerships very seriously, across both public and private sectors, as well as tapping into the strength of Currie & Brown’s network of expertise when required. It was great to see this recognised by a long-standing client and partner, Plymouth City Council.”
